Questions about veterinary acupuncture
What is veterinary acupuncture?
Veterinary acupuncture is the placement of fine needles at specific points on an animal’s body. It is usually offered by a veterinarian, or by a trained practitioner under veterinary supervision where local rules require it, and is used alongside conventional care. The evidence differs from condition to condition, so ask your veterinarian whether it suits your animal.
Does acupuncture replace veterinary care?
No. Start with a veterinary exam and diagnosis. If your animal suddenly cannot walk, is in severe pain or cannot urinate, see a veterinarian or emergency clinic immediately. Read our Medical Disclaimer.
Is every clinic in the directory verified?
No. Each listing carries a label: Listed, Claimed, Credential verified, or Featured / Sponsored. Only “Credential verified” means we checked a stated credential against a public source. Please confirm a clinic’s licence, qualifications and prices with the clinic. Details are in our Editorial Policy.
How do I choose a veterinary acupuncture clinic?
Ask who performs the treatment, what acupuncture training they have, and whether they treat your type of animal and condition. Our clinic directory has a short checklist.
